The orchestra : I Musici Bruscellensis
Created in 1991, the orchestra « I MUSICI BRUCELLENSIS » is a string ensemble of experienced musicians, all of them first prizewinners at Music Conservatoires in Belgium and abroad.
It’s conductor and artistic director, Zofia WISLOCKA, is one among the very few women-conductors in Europe.
Polish-born, after outstanding musical studies in Warsaw, she came to perfect in Brussels and was granted the Belgian citizenship in 1984. Multiple Award winner, she was laureate of the International Competition « I Maestri di Biceglie ».
The orchestra’s repertoire is eclectic. Its spreads from baroque music to contemporary works, with a predilection for the Romantic period… and for some beautiful yet less well-known pieces from composers unjustly fallen in the oblivion.
It also cares about promoting current music – especially european – by interpreting recent works of contemporary composers, and has already to its asset several creations of the kind.
Basically made up of 13 performers, its force can be extended (up to 17 or 20 or more)…or reduced, according to request.
From symphonic to chamber music, each musician being a soloist can be part of a duo, a trio, a quatuor, etc.
The orchestra is touring in Belgium but also in several other European countries.
